The object is located in the Palnix village in Yekaterinburg. The project includes two houses. The two buildings profess a single architectural style, forming an ensemble. A complex layout can be read from the street: the structures of different sizes each have a separate space, many of them equipped with private balconies. The shape dynamics is emphasized by the facades of contrasting materials and colors: gray concrete next to tree-imitation panels; the entrance area and the entrance stairway; the black plaster contrasting with white surfaces. Instead of a classic pitched roof, we see a constructive hybrid – a sloped flat roof.
The first floor of the main house has the form of an open space with a winter garden, which is the central core of the composition. The garden has a direct connection with the soil, which allows the root system to develop under the natural conditions, and allows the plants to receive all the necessary nutrients. All the other spaces are built around the garden: the living room, the kitchen, the dining room with a view of the pond, the laundry room, the bedroom, the entrance hall with dressing rooms and storerooms, and the bathroom. The customer’s passion for the restoration of retro cars has lead the designers to build to a capacious garage with a workshop capable to house five automobiles. At the second-floor level, enters the second light: the sloped attic window lets light into the central space of the winter garden and into the interior. The second floor has a study, two children’s rooms, a toilet and bathroom, the master bedroom with a wardrobe and a bathroom, facing the pond. In the basement, there are server rooms and a wine cellar.
An underground passage connects the main house with the guest house, running under the terrace, along the technical premises and opening into the garage and the workshop. On the ground floor of the guest house there is a living room combined with a fireplace area, a bathroom unit and a shower room with access to the swimming pool and saunas. The swimming pool has panoramic windows and communicates with the terrace. The second floor also has a billiard room, a bathroom and two guest bedrooms.
Particularly interesting is a round hole in the ceiling slab connecting the two houses. A living tree rises out of it and up into the sky. The inside of the hole is painted bright azure – this is the only detail emphasized by this accent color. Among other things, the hole in the slab helps optimize the load.
The object was designed to agree with the landscape. A system of hedges in the form of open ellipses zones off a part of the territory. A separate children’s area features a full-scale playground. Its location means the kids are under constant supervision from the windows of the main bedroom and living room.
