A four-room apartment is located in Mayfair, which is the central area of London for the Russian customer. The architect aimed to create a modern interior, a place of peace and tranquility amid the busy metropolis.
The internal layout has remained almost unchanged. The emphasis is made on the color solutions and the ‘cult’ 21-century designs by Antonio Citterio, Patricia Urquiola, Roberto Lazzeroni, Massimo Castagna, Maurizio Galante, and Chi Wing Lo. The apartment has become the home of a collection of design by famous factories such as Giorgetti Official, Poltrona Frau, B & B Italia, Henge, Cerrutti Baleri, Cecotti Collezioni, and Fornasetti.
The designer has opted for an open plan with a flowing space effect in the dining and living rooms. The shades of gray and beige in the wall decor and the soft lighting emphasize the overall intimacy of the house and serve as a backdrop for the collection of Russian art. The living room solemnly meets the visitor with a triptych by Alexander Gerasimov. The hall is made in neutral light colors with a bright accent on the painting by Valery Shablovsky. The owner’s bedroom features the «Fantastic Shoes and Cubic Heads» series by Viktor Kuznetsov. The guest bedroom is adorned with another two Valery Shablovsky’s pieces – “Insects” and «Two Forms of Movement». Ceramic sculptures of the Japanese designer Tomoko Konno add an exquisite touch to the decor.
The project architect believes art brings life into the interior, and brings the whole project to a new level, expressing the taste of the owners. «I wish all customers were ready to see art in their homes. Luckily, the owner of the London apartment is one of those who appreciate paintings and graphics and knows how to live surrounded by them.»
